Doesnt actually dim the backlight

I was hoping to use this app to turn my iMacs backlight off completely. Then when I log in remotely with Screen Sharing, the screen would stay off, saving energy and extending the screens lifespan.

Unfortunately Brightness Slider is not suitable for this.

It seems the app only dims the picture drawn on the screen, rather than actually turning off the backlight. Notice how the mouse pointer outline still shows up bright white, even when the screen is dimmed all the way down.

Not a bad app, but unfortunately it doesnt address my problem.
