I have two monitor and it’s impossible to use it on both.
When my secondary display is set to sRGB (which is best for color accuracy), it will not allow me to adjust the brightness, so I thought this app would allow me to adjust the brightness of it independently of my MBP. To this point, using the keyboard brightness keys would only affect the MBP, so I was hopeful this could be a solution. However, although adjusting the slider does indeed affect the brightness of the secondary display, it also affects the MBP. So when I bring the brightness down to a good level on the secondary display, it makes my MBP too dark to use. And when I try to adjust the brightnes of the MBP with the keys on the keyboard, my secondary display becomes bright again. It’s unfortunate that the brightnes of each display cannot be adjusted independently.
its worked even if you are using an external monitor
Лучший диммер из всех. (^__^) Please ability to hide an application icon in menyubar.
it adds dark layer to all screenshots made by MacOS standard functionality or external tools like Monosnap. Would be perfect to catch these actions and disable brightness slider for the moment. Thank you for the cool app!
It helps me with my issue (my TB Display lost brightness perferences). Now i can adjust it. It will be great to control every display separate. One slider for retina MBP display and one for TB! Anyway THX))))
Does not work in Yosemite. I downloaded version 1.2.6 that said addressed Yosemite incompatibility, but it still did not work in it. Disappointed.
i would have paid for this
I am sure there are people for who the dimming overlay part of the app is nice, but without the ability to separate the two functions, it becomes useless for a group of people, as evident from the reviews. I picked up the app in order to dim the screen on my laptop when controlling it via Screen Sharing on another computer. But, because of the overlay, it also dims the Screen Sharing screen. How hard would it be to have an option to not apply the overlay?
Works well for controlling brightness right from the menu bar, it gives you a slide thingy just like the volume control. If you wanted to assign F keys to control brightness then pass on this one, until it gets an update. I tried to assign the F1 and F2 keys on my Apple Keyboard With Numeric Keypad to control my Non-Apple Monitor and it didn’t work. I even tried to assign the non macOS useable F5 and F6 keys (which have nothing printed on them) and it still did not work. I think the app just needs an update as it was last updated about two years ago in Feb 2015 and for this i’ll just give it a 3/5.
Only dims main monitor, so this is useless to anyone with multiple monitors unless you one want to dim one, which I can’t see as a common use case.
i would set a brightness lower than apples lowest setting on the menu bar and then it would be really low for a minute then it gets bright by going back to apples lowest instead of the apps lowest
I have iMac with Thunderbolt display attached and needed a simple utility to control brightnes for both displays and this works perfectly.
Works amazingly well, especially for being free. The mouse stays at the default brightness so you never lose it even at the minimum brightness! Would recommend.
Performs as advertised on iMacs. Nice to be able to darken down the screen, goes beyond the default (F1, F2) brightness/ darkness levels.
This is exactly what I was looking for - works on all monitors simultaneously. Great for my dual 27" on Mountain Lion.
Just what I was looking for. Would be even better if I can assign shortcut keys. (Like F1 and F2 for macbook internal screen)
Works great! should be charging .99 cents for a gem like this. It dims my three monitors at the same time. control over that would be nice, but this works great! thanks!
Simple. Quick Install. Easy to use. WORKS! 5 stars.
